It's a Girl!
Writing about our first granddaughter’s birth and events so far surprised me in several ways.
Firstly that our son took so well to the nurturing role, we knew he could entertain children but his love of Lily exceeded all expectations – I suspect even his.
Secondly that he and his partner Maria would present the world and us with such a delightful bundle. The fact that we all expected a boy – males run in the family, the last little girl born was over 30 years ago, so much delight all round.
She is now (late June 2011) two months old and is beginning to take note of her surrounding – waving her arms about and generally smiling at the world that is just out of her reach, which keeps us all smiling too.
Milestones for us are many, like being taken into the swimming pool with her mum and dad – no photos allowed, pity. Outings in her pram. Having her jabs, this made her unhappy for a day but she bounced back.
She is tolerant of noise with two elder siblings rushing around. She has had so many photos at every stage in her life to date, long may it continue.
This is the first blog about little Lily but may not be the last.
